Yesterday I selected which pictures to use of the spot I am portraying – de Sterrenwacht in Utrecht. I printed them and attached a few to the panel.
I want to make some changes to the guy before adhering him. So that if I screw up, which happens a lot, I don’t have to start all over again. I am actually painting two pictures of him that I printed, and will use the one that I like best. Since I use a lot of watery layers the paint takes a long time to dry. So I might as well do two at the same time.
He is more or less finished so I am attaching them to the panel. If you want to know how exactly, get Jonathan Talbot’s excellent guide on collage making. I found a few shortcuts and am using baking paper instead of the silicone backed paper Talbot likes.
We’re all set to do more painting and lettering now.
Since I am trying out how to do video’s I made a 2 minute video of the next part, in which I am talking about the materials I use in Dutch – sorry for that but I needed all of my concentration for painting and talking and thinking of the camera at the same time. I will do them in English from now on. I am also heaving a deep sigh while sitting down.. will have to keep that in check, too ;-)
More painting tomorrow.

that sigh is funny, Kitty ;)
Glad you think so!
Oh, I LOVE the video, Kitty! It’s so wonderful to see your process and what better way to show it than this! It makes me want to rush out and make one … but it would take months to film the slow process I endure!
Je houdt de spanning er goed in ;).
Ellen, you don’t really think I know how it is going to work out, do you? Yikes, sometimes it takes me two weeks before I am done. Sometimes a day. It varies greatly!
