| Majolica by Ann Tubbs |
I am in Toledo, Ohio.
Which is where it all happens, in case you did not know.
I am taking tons of pictures but I don’t know how to get them onto my friends’ computer so I will save them for later. So just a quick hello before we head off to Art-O-Matic, a three saturday art show in downtown Toledo with artists from all over the area.
Just a few days ago I discovered the beautifully sculpted and decorated majolica by Ann Tubbs, who lives in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, quite near here. My friend gave me one of her beautiful bowls for my birthday, lucky me! But when I looked up Ann Tubbs blog just now I found out she’ll be in the show too. So in just a few hours I get to see all her lovely work AND herself.
How exciting!

How great that it all comes together and fits in such a short period.
Because tomorrow, I am moving on to Canada.
That wil be exciting too for I am going to meet Canada’s finest artist/ former illustrator Chum McLeod. And I will finally get to ask her in person what’s with all the rifles and wolves and bare chested women in her recent work (which is much inlfuenced by medieval illustrations).

We have been corresponding for months and I did a blog post about Chum McLeod here. It will be really interesting to meet her for real and see how it goes, for though we share a lot of things, and I hugely enjoy her wit and sharp mind, she is a far more quiet person than me.
So I will try to behave and be a subdued version of myself.
We have been fantasizing about how it would go.
Chum predicted that I would immediately dislike her and we would have our first fight right at the bus station when she picks me up. I would later state that her artwork looked much better on the internet and I would proceed to leave her house and move into a hotel. Only to return one final time in order to rip up all of her frocks.
I wrote back: you really don’t know me well!
I would never rip up your frocks.
I would rip up your artwork!
See you next week
