I finished doing my taxes and lots of other chores so finally I get to start on the long planned new mixed media series, to be made into prints. Yay!
The first one will be about Utrecht. One of the loveliest places around town is the semi-circular park built on the former town walls. And of that walk the area around the observatory is particularly beautiful. We used to run there a lot when lived in the inner city. So I went to take pictures yesterday.

I know which text I want to use and from my collection of old photographs I have already picked a guy who needs to be in it.
I scan it. Since it is full of scratches and blots I spend quite some time on plastic surgery. And trying out different shades for him.
Next I play with elements from the pictures I have taken.
And build up many layers which I then discard again..
While finally settling for a rather simple composition. With lots of green. I modify the picture and add a lot of different shades to the leaves in Photoshop.
Then I print the different parts.
And tomorrow I will start painting.
