My modern electronic Pfaff sewing machine can not sew leather. According to the manual it ought to, but it keeps breaking down.
Its fine mechanism is too delicate, I have to have it repaired all the time.
So I tried my grandmother’s antique Singer Sewing machine, that had not been used for ages.
My grandmother sewed my mother’s wedding dress on it, single handedly, mind you.

My mother in her wedding dress, 1958, afraid that her veil is getting blown off.
My grandmother is right behind her.
We found an online manual here. The Singer site will alsotell you which series your machine belongs to – but it takes some patience for the site is not very intuitively laid out.
We oiled it in all the proper places, cleaned it, discovered how to thread it and put the bobbin in..
And lo and behold, it goes through the leather like butter!
Problem solved.

I really see ressemblance between you and your grandmother! Nice solid equipment..
Wow, you all look SO alike! Great photos, love the one of your mom with the expression. The video was so nice to see. Zoe kept saying “That’s Kitty?” she feels like she knows you through the talks we’ve had about you and your work!
