Kitty Kilian, Joy: an unnecessary distraction, mixed media 17 x 24 cm/7 x 9,5 in
Does it ever happen to you, I wonder.
It happens to me all the time.
It happened today.
I put a somewhat cynical text on a new piece – and I also manipulated the image so that the young lady in the picture is looking even more depressed. The cup of tea she is clutching is not going to be of much help. Not to her.
You might think I am a nasty, bitter, mean old woman myself to be thinking this up.
But hell, no. I am usually cheerful.
So why do jokes about life not being all that it’s cracked up to be appeal to me so?
I guess because we all know that life is not always what’s is cracked up to be.

Haha…. love it, Kitty! I am an eternal positive/smily person… but you are right, sometimes we all have our “down” moments, and that’s life, indeed. I am guessing we are here to find balance. And truth is, I think the young girl is too depress to find it in the cup of tea she has here hehehe… maybe she should take wine instead hehehe
If that would solve her problems, yes!
Ah joy, so overrated :)
Ha ha!
Where do you find these photos, Kitty?! You pull out the best/worst in them. An amazing talent! I love the red, all fire and brimstone looking.
Thanks! I snap them up wherever I can.. at flea markets or antique postcard stores. Friends give me digital scans of family albums too. Some I just get from the internet (if they’re old enough there are no copyright problems).
Just discovered you and your work. I posted about you and your work on my Facebook stream. Also liked your art page on Facebook. Good morning from Shreveport, Louisiana, USA …
Gee thanks! We are getting ready for dinner…
