Yes I am early, but what the heck.
This idea was on my list for a long time. And now I made it.
Family holidays.
Sigh.
Do you too remember many a Christmas meal that went like this:
Mother: Tada… and here is the hare!
Father: Ah.
Children: (deadly quiet)
Father: (takes a bite) Er…
Mother: (resigned not to respond)…
Father: It is a little dry.
Mother: Well… (remembers she was not going to speak)
Father: Such a pity. You COULD have tried out the recipe in advance you know.
Mother: (forgetting her resignation) Can’t you just for once… etc etc etc
Yes, family holidays. Great fun.
If you want to send this card in december – it will either go in my webshop soon or it is going to be licensed out to a publisher. I’ll follow up.
Some extra information to go with the slideshow: I spent five hours yesterday trying to improve the quality of two of the three pictures I intended to use for this card. It did not work – they were too unsharp to start with – and I felt I had lost an entire day. So I played some more with the woman I liked best anyhow and came up with a simpler yet even better design. I finished her this afternoon. Here is a slideshow – as you can see I use Photoshop a lot for planning.

hebben hebben hebben!
Thanks Ellen! I will make them available later this year ;-)
What a riot! My kind of card and I loved seeing the process. Do you sew layers of the card together on a machine?
Hiya Ashley! Thanks. About the sewing – it depends. I usually glue the parts down quickly with a photo stick (acid free), apply the paint, and then sew over it again. Or paint again, whatever is needed.
Love seeing the process Kitty. I think you’re onto a winner with this design. I know a lot of people who I think would like this : )
een slimme meid is op haar kerstmis voorbereid :-)
Nice card and great to see the process!
Nice to see the variations and the process!
don’t you just love photoshop!!!xlynda
Yes I do! I know painters use it a lot too nowadays – I guess everyone does – so much easier to try out a new background colour in an oil painting digitally instead of painting it all on..
Love seeing the process and what a great card. You DO plan ahead, don’t you!? I usually wait to design my holiday cards the first week in December … and then they become New Year’s cards instead!
Wow…wish I were good at Photoshop…I’ve got to learn. I’m taking a week-long class at Maine Media in October to learn how to use my new camera, and i know they include lots about how to work on photos. Looking forward to becoming more skillful. I so admire all you can do! Do you ever sleep?
I sleep 9 hours and at night I try to read, not work.. But then again I do not have to tend a beautiful garden, like you! That is my dear husband’s domain and I am not allowed to touch anything, which is just how I like it ;-)
