Introducing the I-apron

This week I have not found time to do any of the drawings that live in my mind.
Sometimes life just takes precedence. I try not to fret.

I did some sewing however.

Remember how happy I was to find a solution for carrying my phone, Ipod and other much needed items around the house? Just like carpenters I carry an apron, which my friend Zuster van Uden and I have now christened the I-apron (I-schort).

It does provoke mixed feelings! Some people love it, some think it is utterly bizar. My 13 year old made me promiss to only wear it around the house. And I do.

I will be making a couple to take to De Hippe Markt at the Utrecht Griftpark over Pentecost. The sister and I will be sharing a boot and we plan to have loads of fun.

So I stocked up on scraps of leather at the Utrecht textile market and am thinking up fun colour combinations. I will put a few up in my webshop soon. If you have any suggestions let me know!
(Like how to make a small number of textile badges with my logo on it.. are there any such things like textile ink pads so I can use a stamp?)

Love these! Especially the colorful ones! I could so use this when I'm in the studio! Right now I have three pairs of scissors in the three different spots where I work and I still manage to lose them.

For stamping onto fabric I would try to find some thick/tacky fabric paint (similar consistency to block ink for linocuts) and roll it onto the face of the stamp using a hard rubber roller – again just like for inking up a linocut. I found if I roll out the ink very well first and then roll onto the stamp as evenly as possible I can get a nice solid print – takes a little trial and error though.
