Weekly portraits: with sadness I announce..

It is with relief and sadness at the same time that I announce the end of my 2011 Weekly Portrait Project.

I started drawing one portrait a week pretty impulsively, in january, thinking I could do a portrait a DAY. Within a week I was proven wrong. So it got changed into a weekly self imposed challenge.

I have had a lot of fun interacting with all those loving parents and partners and friends who have ordered portraits over the last 3/4 year. But after the summer holidays, when I was reviewing my plans and schedule, I decided they were really taking too much of my time.

One portrait can easily take a day to finish.

So from now on I will only do occasional custom portraits, on request. And spend the rest of my time on my teaching and my other work.

A big thank you for supporting me all this time, and for all your great comments on the blog!

    It takes
courage to start a challenge and it takes courage to know when to stop. The
time between those two points was great and filled with beautiful artwork!

Wow. Lots happening since I’ve been on vacation from blogland! A brave decision Kitty. As you know I think your work is wonderful and I can see how your direction is changing. You’re managing your time differently and it makes sense for you to do so in order to be a successful artist in your field. I feel very lucky to have my Jolie as a KK portrait!
